Sometimes I am unable to highlight any of my icons in the desktop, however I can highlight things on my taskbar and am able to right click and left click. But left click and right click do not work anywhere other than the taskbar. Sometimes it will switch where I can click and right click everything on my desktop but can't do anything on my taskbar.
When I can successfully launch google chrome, I can't click the address bar, and clicking on tabs seems to close them even though I am not near the x button on the tabs. Pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete sometimes fixes the issue and I can click normally, but the problems in google chrome still stay, and just minutes later everything gets screwed up again.
I've tried system restore and it worked for a good hour, but the problem came back.
I've tried a clean boot and the same thing happened. I am quite positive this isn't a hardware issue because I've plugged in my tablet as well (which can work as a second mouse) and the same things happen to that as well when using the stylus to move and click around. I've tried going into device manager and under "Mice and other pointing devices" uninstalling "Hid Compliant Mouse" and it doesn't work, nor does updating its drivers as it says its already at the most recent.
I'm using a Logitech MX400 mouse by the way, and my tablet is a Wacom Capture. My Computer is an Asus Desktop PC CM1740, windows 7 home premium 64 bit and 8gigs of ram. I've used this computer for like 2 years now and this issue has never happened to me before.
I've tried booting into safe mode but the problems are still there. I even called microsoft support but I was so very disappointed with the abundance of useless legalese I was given.
Please help, this is a very frustrating issue that I have no clue how to fix.
