RAM Speed - CPU-Z Accurate?

Hey Guys!

I have 16 GB of Corsair Vengeance 2400 MHz RAM and wanted to know, is it really running at that speed?

With CPU-Z, it says it's at 666.7 MHz, but it also says my CPU is at 1.2 GHz, until it's under load. I believe that my CPU is just under clocking itself, right? So that leads me to believe that my RAM just isn't running as fast because it isn't really under load, I guess?

Solution
The DRAM is running at 1333, or the mobos default for DRAM (CPU-Z shows true freq and this is DDR or DOUBLE data rate , you take true freq x 2 = effective. Assuming this is on your sig rig, so should be as simple as going into BIOS, enable XMP and select profile 1 and should be at 2400 (will show 1200 in CPU-Z or 1200x 2 = 2400

The RAM is running at the default speed of DDR 1333. It's DDR or double data rate. CPU-Z reads the frequency not the data rate. You need to enable XMP or manually configure the RAM in BIOS.
