Second HDD installation

So I have an old hdd from a previous build, that has all my data and files on it. I recently bought a new hdd that will be my primary hdd, that does not have an OS on it yet. Both hdd will have the same windows 7 OS system. My question is, do I have to wait to install the second hdd until after I load the OS onto the new hard drive, or does it not matter? Thank You

You should only have a single drive attached when you install Windows.

just use your new drive as more space?

Or are you trying to throw out the old hdd? (Replace*)?
