New computer with XP

Hey guys I have built my grandmother a new computer saving the hard drive and optical drive from her old OptiPlex 745. I got a new msi h81m-e33. It boots up fine but once it gets into the windows xp start up it immediately goes into a blue screen. Thanks

Is it a clean OS installation? else you will need to make it in order to get rid of the old drivers which usually cause the BSOD.

If it is a fresh installation, we'll need you to tell us which code is the blue screen giving.

By clean you mean a new copy of windows xp being downloaded, right? If so then no the old hard drive already had windows xp

A Clean Installation is one done after the Hard Drive is formatted.

An installation over an existing Windows XP is called a Repair Installation.

What you apparently did was just add the old hard drive with Windows XP to the new computer... and that is what causes the blue screen... The Windows XP on the hard drive has drivers for the old motherboard installed which are not compatible with the new motherboard. So, before it can boot normally you have to either repair install (also called reinstall) Windows XP, or preferably do a clean installation.

I'm sorry but I don't think I can really use these product key recovery links, because I can't open the USB Flash Drive while in BIOS 4.

You can use the links from the Hiren's Boot CD or USB... you can also use the ProduKey already in Hiren's CD / USB. And if the computer is from a namebrand the product key is in the case or under the laptop/notebook... this key is the one you should use on a new installation instead of the product key in the OS.
