Hey community,

I am currently wondering about whether to get two GTX 770 to run them in SLI or to get a single 780ti.

PC Plans:

Current Monitors: Dual BenQ XL2420T running at 120hz each

CPU: i7-3770k (my current cpu, won't replace it) - going to overclock it once I get my cooler sorted, reaching at least 4.5 should be no problem.
Cooler: H100i or H110i (not decided yet)
Motherboard: ASRock z77 Extreme 4
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 1600 mhz 4x4GB - 16GB
SSD: Crucial M500

My plans are reaching steady 120 FPS while streaming (1080p) current titles in at least medium in-game quality (League of Legends / upcoming title Wildstar). Doubt I am able to reach 120 FPS in something like BF4, however I also have no interest in that game.

If my go-to are the 770s, then should I opt in for two 4GB versions or two 2GB ones? The price difference isn't much (~30 Euro per card extra), however I am unsure about which version to choose should this be the case.

Also whichever of those two cards you recommend, I'd ask you to please tell me which brand I should opt for performance and cooling wise (I am currently running a Gainward GTX 570 Phantom) as I am quite indecisive when it comes down to brands and there will always be tiny differences in cooling and maybe even performance.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Iyo

well for getting league of legends to 120 fps a single 760 would be enough, but for other games i would get a 780 ti, since, even though it might not annoy you, micro stuttering would definitely annoy your watchers . also, if you want to go higher on the details or play more demanding games in general, you will need to upgrade and dual 780 tis will destroy 3 or 4 way 770s ( if 4 way is even supported on the 770 you are getting. When streaming you will need to either use shadowplay (still in beta) or get external streaming hardware, because it will load up any system to the point where it laggs, unless you use either of the two.

if you opt for the 770s, definitely get 4gb for multi display configs.

I always favor a good single card over sli when it will do the job.
Gaming at 1080P a single gtx780ti will do the job.
Adding a second side monitor adds no significant load.
You will win more FPS benchmarks with sli gtx770 but your experience with a single gpu should be smoother.
Some games do not respond well to dual gpu's.

2gb vs. 4gb is not a functional issue, and a negligible performance issue. Read this:

As to brands, I like EVGA if you live in the us. Check out the support forums and see which you prefer.

I prefer their direct exhaust titan blower type coolers. They get heat out of your case directly

I do not much like all in one liquid coolers when a good air cooler can do the job.
A liquid cooler will be expensive, noisy, less reliable, and will not cool any better
in a well ventilated case.
Liquid cooling is really air cooling, it just puts the heat exchange in a different place.
The orientation of the radiator will cause a problem.
If you orient it to take in cool air from the outside, you will cool the cpu better, but the hot air then circulates inside the case heating up the graphics card and motherboard.
If you orient it to exhaust(which I think is better) , then your cpu cooling will be less effective because it uses pre heated case air.
And... I have read too many tales of woe when a liquid cooler leaks.

single cards are always better then dual cards. however in your case two cards may be a good idea let me list advantages and disadvantages of both

advantage-dual cards
-better performance over two monitors due more vram
- possible higher frame rates
- easier to use multiple monitors
disadvantages
-very unstable
-lots of cooling
-frame drops
-more space in case
- lower performance in one monitor
advantages-one card780
-large amounts of vram
-stable
- adequate performance
- not much cooling
- no frame drops
disadvantages-780ti
-not as good with dual monitors

i would personally go with the single 780ti and for cooling go with a gigabyte tricooling they are great cards

I might have been not clear enough about the dual monitors, apologies if that was the case. I am still gaming on my main monitor, however I am using a dual monitor set up. Basically I don't stretch my game over two monitors if that was the assumption.
Thanks for the replies so far :) .

go with the single card trust me better performance and also alot easier to cool and more stable
