I just installed a new 1TB Seagate SV35 Series hard drive. Specifically: ST1000VX000 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB OEM
I've got it installed, the BIOS recognized it and Windows 8/64-bit recognized it, and I see it in Computer Management, but I have not yet initialized it because I wanted to ask:
I know a computer's favorite numbers are: 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, etc.... So would there be any kind of advantage at all if I partitioned it with, say, 256GB for video capture, 512GB for data, and the rest as a backup partition? I know the third partition won't be a "favorite number", but there's nothing I can do about that.
Of course, I know there have been simple 80GB hard drives and 200GB hard drives so I know any partition will work. I was just curious about any advantages to using those "computer numbers" listed above.
