Is the EVGA 500w 80+ Bronze Certified PSU good enough to support my system if I overclock an FX-6300 to 4.3Ghz, assuming my cooling system and motherboard is good enough and I have an R9 270x OC edition (TDP of 180).

You're taking a risk there. 500W happens to be the minimum recommendation for the R9 270x.

Max? Probably 400W after the overclocking.

Dont push it to hard.

Power consumption at load is about 227 Watts per this link

Your video card is about 180 watts per this link

I dont know how much wattage it will pull overclocked with a gaming load but your pretty close to maxing your Power supply.

227 (System) + 150 (GPU itself) = <400W~ (And we're talking maxed out power consumption here)

You're fine.

Its your system and there is always a risk overclocking. I put together a build that is probably similar to yours. I didnt know specifics of what you have other then Mobo, Power supply and Video Card but with these items and other commons items in a system you are at 384Watts non overclocked.
