Hi guys so i just finished my first build with a vapor-x 280x and i heard a few weeks back about Mantle gaming for amd and my card isn't compatible with mantle and i have a few questions. Will there be a huge difference between my current card and a card with mantle? Will i be able to use this card without mantle for a year or 2? Will the performance of my card drop because I don't have mantle? Thank You!!! :)

Solution

Yeah cause quite a few of aftermarket companies like to leave out alot of things like the pins requires to powered the GPU and some of the features...

There's not a whole lot to be said for Mantle at the moment. It doesn't seem to be as big a hit as ATi thought it would be. Developers just aren't taking to it like ATi hoped they would. I wouldn't even bear mantle in mind for a couple of years at all anyway as devs won't be looking to get the very best they can out of the consoles until later in the consoles lifespans, as is always the case.

your card is AMD, its gonna be mantle compatible, where'd you hear that crap?.

No the performance will no drop, the performance will increase in Mantle-supported games.

You will be able to use the card for 3-5 years with mantle because it has mantle

Conclusion, your card has mantle

I heard from a friend that cards are built to be compatible with mantle and will get mantle with a driver update. Also i checked the sapphire site it doesn't say anything about mantle like the toxic 280x does. http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/product_index.aspx?pid=2024&lid=1

Yeah cause quite a few of aftermarket companies like to leave out alot of things like the pins requires to powered the GPU and some of the features which the card itself has to offer not the cooler

On that note, Mantle is an API, like Direct X. It's not built into cards. You can download it or w.e and if your card supports it(can handle it) then it'll work. The R9 280X came out last year in october so you're fine. If you have an AMD 4000 series then maybe you should be worried about not supporting mantle
