I recently got a new PC with an i7-4770 (Haswell) CPU to replace my i7-870 (Nehalem). I used NovaBench (3.0.4) on both PC's, and while the Haswell significantly outperforms the Nehalem in almost every way, I do get a slightly lower FLOPS number on the 4770 (206.0M) vs the 870 (207.4M). I realize the difference is minuscule, and the 4770 performs much better overall (both in terms of the benchmark and real-world use), but I'm wondering why it would be lower. I've tried running it several times on both PC's and the numbers are pretty consistent. I've tried to make sure (as much as possible) that no background tasks are running while I'm benchmarking.
For what it's worth, the 4770 is running Windows 8.1, while the 870 had Windows 7. The 4770 has DDR3-1600 memory, while the 870 has DDR3-1333.
Any thoughts?
