I'm planning on building a gaming rig using a pair of superclocked 4GB EVGA GTX 760s in two way SLI, but for the same money I can grab one superclocked 3GB GTX 780. With a dual-monitor setup, which provides the best performance for price?

Rest of the system:
Processor: AMD FX-8350
Ram: Kingston HyperX 16GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz
Hard Disk: WD 4TB Black
Motherboard: Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z
PSU: XFX PRO 750w Black Edition
Case: NZXT Phantom

Thanks!

In general it's best to get a single good card rather than two lower ones. With a single GTX 780 you will have less heat and less noise and consume less electricity. A single GTX 780 needs a 600W PSU, while two GTX 760 SLI need 700W. Also, with a single GTX 780 you won't have to worry about games that don't support SLI well.

Thanks for the link, dingo07.

Looking through that review, you can see GTX 760 2-way SLI consumes about 100W more than a single GTX 780, and delivers about 5% more performance. So technically GTX 760 SLI does offer more fps, but it has too many disadvantages IMO. I'd go with the single GTX 780.

In the previous two generations, I wuda said go SLI ....

Two 560 Tis were 40% faster than the 580 while costing $100 less
Two 650 Ti Boosts were faster than the 680 for $200 less

Now ya talking a much smaller performance difference....a much smaller price difference and the 780 still arguable remains a "pound for pound" best buy due to the fact that it overclocks so well..... not to mention we are finally starting to see 2+ GB of RAM start to have implications even at 1920 x 1080.
