Hello,
I intend to make an updgte to my computer and i have bought the following staff

  • MB: Gigabyte B85-HD3
    CPU: Intel Core i5 4570
    RAM: 2 x 4GB 1600MHz
    SSD Drive: 128 GB

I plan to use the psu I currently have on my old pc.
PSU: Thermaltake TR2-470W with specs:+3.3V/22A, +5V/32A, +12V1/14A, +12V2/15A, -12V/0.3A, +5VSB/2A (+3.3V &+5V Combined:220W)

I don't know if this information is important but NO GRAPHICS CARD IS PLACED ON THE SYSTEM, I use the integrated graphics of the processor. So the system is going to be like this:cpu,2 RAMS, 3 sata hard disk drives, 1 SSD drive, 1 DVD RW Drive and 2 Fans.

Will this psu be able to power up my system or should i buy a new one? What are the minimum requirements for Watts or Amperes on the +12v rails to be able to power this simple system? On Cpu specifications page is says max TDP 84W, so 470W are enough? Is there any danger of harming my new (and expensive) equipment?

----- Update -----
I also found another one psu from a friend It is Chieftec GPS 450 AA 101 with specs: +3.3V/30A, +5V/28A, +12V1/14A, +12V2/15A, -12V/0.5A, +5VSB/2A

I read in a reasearch on the web that this particular model is made by delta and it is a little more reliable than thermaltake.

would you suggest any of this two?

Thanks a lot for any future replies.

You may have sufficient power with that PSU, if it actually produces that much current.
The TT TR2 is listed as a "replace immediately" unit in this list
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html
So to answer the last part of the question about damage: if it fails there is the possibility it will take other parts
with it. If you can afford it I would buy another PSU in the 400-500watt range (that's more then enough for this system) and get a dependable brand. The above list should be a real great help.
Since there will be no extra load of a video card, I would think you could get away with just about anything in Tier 1-3.
Good name brands are Corsair (avoid the RM series til they work out the problems), Seasonic, XFX, Antec, Enermax, and CoolerMaster V series.
