Computer not recognizing headphones

I recently just bought a new HP Envy 17 Notebook PC. After downloading all of my games, I decided to launch one. For some odd reason, the sound wasn't working. I remember earlier using skype and youtube just fine, and I tried both of them again and they were working perfectly fine.
In the bottom right of my screen (taskbar is on the right), I see that my audio icon has a red 'X' next to the icon. It says 'No Audio Output Device is Enabled'. I go to Sound in Control Panel, and it shows that my Turtle Beach X12's are the default headphones for my computer.
How do you fix this!?

Solution
What other audio is shown.
Such as "Speakers Realtek High Definition audio" or to that affect.
Your headphones are USB; if they are 'enabled' in Sound, and you are trying to use the speakers
on you Notebook, then you will have to disable them and enable the onboard sound chip and set it as default.

Well, I've just run into another problem with my headset.
Every minute or so (while watching YouTube) my speakers will randomly start playing the audio from my headset for a second or so. Why is that? And is this fixable?

Ya got me on that one. I haven't a clue.
Only guess is that he USB connection isn't plugged in all the way; but that doesn't make sense as the speakers are disabled.
That might be worth the trouble to contact HP about, especially if the notebook is still under warranty. It almost sounds like a short
