I am planning on starting a new build for myself and I have all the components except the CPU and CPU Fan and motherboard. I would like to know, which CPU and Motherboard will be good for a Radeon 7970 3GB OC. I was hoping to spend >200.

Solution
ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131873
$94.99
Pretty good mobo for the $$$.

AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6300WMHKBOX
+ $10 off w/ promo code EMCWVTJ23, ends 1/8
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286
$119.99 (minus the promo code $10) = $109.99
$204.98. plus tax. Free shipping for both items.

The 7970 is a pretty fast and powerful video card so you may end up overclocking the cpu a bit to get full benefit of the card. Going with an i5 and appropriate mobo would be a bit better choice, but your are budget limited. My wife has the 6300 in her PC...

in my current build there is an i-7- 2600k but im not sure if it is molded in. Is the i-7 better than that CPU?

Yes. That is still a very powerful CPU; and though intel is no longer producing CPU for the socket that fits into, it is still a good mobo. It is probably not permanently attached to the mobo, but I wouldn't be replacing it with an AMD. I have read of folks overclocking that CPU (i7 2600K) substantial amounts on stock air cooling!. slip that 7970 video card into your system and go kick-butt in some games!

i'll say these is a solid choice if you could afford it. The fx 8320 is not much more performance in over 90% of games right now over the fx 6300 but its only gonna get better with newer games as seen in BF4
