The game is not fully finished, and is still in development.

From the steam page.

What the developers say:
“DayZ Early Access is your chance to experience DayZ as it evolves throughout its development process. Be aware that our Early Access offer is a representation of our core pillars, and the framework we have created around them. It is a work in progress and therefore contains a variety of bugs. We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle.”

In other words expect a lot of crashing and problems running the game.

Its not that because it happened when i play other steam games as well and other people do not have DC problems, I watch many dayz streamers like lirik and summit and also the friends i play with do not have this issue.

The cause of the error with games crashing can relate to overheating of a component.

If you can play a game for 20min or more, and each game you play says the game has stopped working or responding.
One of the likely causes is a graphics card that is overheating.

Most cards have a protection system to stop the gpu from going into melt down.
Where when they heat up to the point above working stated temperature they will force a stop execution.
This is so the load put on the Gpu can be reduced.
Allowing it to be cooled, and why you can get a message saying a game has crashed.

They also, in more new models clock down in speed or operation.
In an effort to reduce speed,as less heat is generated, before they reach the stop execution. It is governed by the internal temp sensor of the Gpu.

If you have an older card, many do not perform this later feature, but instead execute the stop command.
Due to the fact the gpu may of reached its trigger point or maximum working temps.

So the culprit can be overheating, if it happens with most games under a set amount of time for each game you play.

If the system has had the card in it for a few months it may need cleaning due to dust build up.
Or a lack of air flow from the fan of the card through the heat sink cooling fins of the card.
Due to the dust build up.

The fan speed of the card may have to be manually set higher so it can get rid of heat build up quicker, keeping on top of the temps.
Or more fans may be added to the case to include better air flow inside it.
Helping to keep the internal components more cool, by drawing in cool air and expelling hot air from the case.

May I ask what card you are using for graphics, Nvidia, ATI Radeon, or Intel based.

Check temperatures, the graphic card is more than enough for Day Z!

temps look fine to me, they are topping out at 73-75 degrees celsius which I am told that is a normal temp for gaming.
