Hi! So my pc was running fine until i turned it on this morning and got the famous "Reboot or Insert boot media" message. I have an Asus rampage IV extreme by the way, I have a kingston V300 that is working fine and another HDD

The ocz, on which I had my OS, is no longer detected in the BIOS. So I swap the sata cables with the kingston ssd: the ocz is still not detected while the kingston is. I tried the sata 3gb/s ports too, same results. Swapped the power cord, still nothing. Put the ocz in my laptop, and not detected, so can't run the OCZ toolbox.

The ssd is a little more than a year old. I'm thinking it's dead, what do you think ?

Hi

If not detected by PC bios then possibilities:-

faulty or disabled SATA port

faulty power or data cable

dead drive electronics

since you have swapped both with another drive this confirms your diagnosis of a Dead SSD
what waranttee was provided with the SSD ?
contact OCZ anyway ?
I had a dead on arrival OCZ SSD that sat in a box for several months before being used and it was swapped for a latter model.

Hopefully your user data was on another disk as the recovery of data from a dead SSD is very expensive

best of luck

I went through 4 vertex II drives in 1 year, they finally replaced it with a vertex 3 which managed to last 6 months, then it failed, got it replaced and sold it really cheap and bought a Samsung 840 pro been running it for ~1 year now. LMFAO when I heard OCZ went bankrupt. Of coarse them going bankrupt will make an RMA difficult.
