Might aswell get the 8320 for $10 more, the whole fx-X1XX series was horrible for gaming.

If that was case I'd still suggest the FX-6300 over the FX-8120 for a gaming rig.

Just based on performance, what would be better: the FX-6300 or the FX 4350?

In the original question you only have a cpu, gpu, hdd, and ram listed. The 2 cpu's use completely different sockets so I'm going to assume you need a motherboard aswell. If you have one please post the make and model so we can verify compatibility and possible rework the build. Also whats the make and model of the PSU as it may need to be upgraded to accommodate the new hardware. for 600 you can get quite a bit here's a preliminary build thats under budget.
