Hello Helpful Toms experts. So I recently acquired a 2nd monitor for my pc and I have also received a FPS drop in BF4 as a result even know I still only game on 1 monitor. Im running 2 780's in sli.

My Question to you all is, if I buy a third (CHEAP) GPU and install it on the 3rd slot on my board (Maximuis Gene) While my 780's are still in sli will I be able to hook my second and possibly a third screen to that card without getting an in game drop of FPS?

I have tested this slightly by making my cards non sli and hooking up one monitor to each and it worked fine but Im not sure if it will work with the third card with the other two in sLi.

Also will the fact that my third slot is a PCI 8.0 make a difference for only running a monitor or 2 without hardcore graphics running on them?

Thank you all very much.

I only game on one and run the battle screen on the other, the game runs at 90-100 fps but Im a performance nut. It was running at 120 before.

Hmmm, the Gene motherboards are all micro-ATX, I'd love your thoughts on where you could possibly mount the 3rd card considering all the PCIe slots are either taken or covered by your pair of 780s.

Another option you could try out, before splashing out on another card, is to drive the 2nd screen from the intel HD on-die graphics. There's an hdmi port as part of the rear IO panel.
