Asus GTX 770 compatible with Dell XPS 8300?

EDIT: for anyone wondering, the answer appears to be NO. The GTX 770 is not compatible with the XPS 8300. You will need to buy a new motherboard.

I have just installed the new Asus GTX 770 graphics card, into a largely unmodified Dell XPS 8300 (upgraded power supply though). However, BIOS isn't detecting the card.

Have I just wasted my money, or is there a way to get this to work?

minimum power for the GTX 770 is 600W so the OEM PSU would not be sufficient, happy to know you have upgraded ur PSU... so whats the make of PSU & power delivered by it?

I have a 750W Corsair CX 750 M. I don't think the power is an issue.

I read over and over again that the BIOS that ships with the Dell XPS 8300 blocks 600 series and 700 series cards with security boot, however there is no such option in the BIOS.

Surely there must be a way to solve this?

extremely sorry about that,disable the IGP in BIOS then check.
If the driver installer doesn't recognize the card then card is dead or faulty. Try that card on different system to make sure.
however pls go thru this
1.Uninstall all the drivers
2.Disable igpu (It's not mandatory and IIRC it is set to auto anyways)
3.Put 770 and turn the system on.
4.Go to device manager and scan for hardware changes.
Are you sure you have connected both the 8+6 pin cables?

Also make sure you grab the 320.18 drivers from NVIDIA's site again. The original release of 320.18 did not include support for the GTX 770, since NVIDIA didn't want the drivers to be used to confirm that GTX 770 existed. So yeah its bit shameful.

I have since had it confirmed that the GTX 770 is flat out incompatible with the XPS 8300 motherboard, so I am just going to buy a new mobo. Thanks for the help though!

[strike][/strike]Posting this for people still wondering about compatibility between gtx 770 and xps8300, I installed a pny gtx 770 OC on my xps 8300 yesterday after upgrading psu and had no problem so the pny version of the gtx 770 is compatible with xps 8300.
