  1. Could be a number of things.

    - Is the wirless card turned on?
    - Can you pick up anything?

What is the model number of the laptop?

    Hi

The wireless card has to be enabled (hardware or software switches.?)
I presume you can see several wireless networks including your own
And you have given the correct. Wireless wep or wap- security key

the wireless access point can use a white list to keep out un invited users

Can other wireless devices connect to this access point ?

Just some of things to check

    Best of luck
