i have a mouse with LEDS all over it i want to extend its lifetime after shutting down! it used to shut-off when i had my MSI motherboard, but now that i have a M5A99x EVO R2.0 it doesn't turn off! is there a way i can fix this? (its not the surge protector or the "Fast boot" windows 8 feature)

Solution
Believe you need to goto motherboard BIOS for that setting...... (you don't want to Disable the mouse, just disable it from Waking your computer...)

Might be in "Power Options" under control panel but I only know Windows 7, not Windows 8....

Read your motherboard's manual.
Many boards feature the ability to charge devices with a USB connection even when the machine is off.
But that means the LED's on your mouse will stay on too.
The feature is usually configurable (can be turned off) in the BIOS.

On my Asus board's manual (z87-pro), it is called "USB Charger+", which I do not see in your manual.
It can be accessed from the BIOS, and from the AI Suite software.
Just for the heck of it, take a look in your AI Suite software and see if the item is there. Perhaps it is an 'undocumented feature' of your board.

You can find the setting you need in the BIOS. Basic idea is you have the mouse "On" so you can use it to wake the computer form "Sleep State." Just change that setting to "disable" mouse from waking the computer and you'll be good to go.
