Crap. Ok first thing to do is to (carefully) pull out any extraneous hardware you need to boot. Also beg, borrow or steal a second PSU to test with. Check each component for the burning smell.

We're testing. There's no need to actually put a PSU in the case. Were there any issues whilst mounting your alienware motherboard?

The damage may be worse than I expected. You will need to remove your CPU cooler and inspect your processor and the surrounding area on your motherboard for damage. Do not test further until you have some thermal compound you can apply.

Not just your motherboard, the cpu had to have got hot enough to do damage to it. If you're too shy to discuss it here, take your system to the guy in the shop, but we have thousands of experts here and they have let me fault find without interference so far.

With that said, it's getting late (for me) so if you need anything reply soon otherwise work and sleep require my next 18 hours.

Previous mounting apparatus isn't the problem

Your priority should be to take the time to pull out everything and find where the bad smell is coming from. Also look for charring and melted plastic.

Yes. I'll have time to troubleshoot tomorrow.
