How can you connect a normal DVD player to a touchscreen laptop?

I have just got a new HP, windows 8, touchscreen laptop. But it doesn't have a DVD Drive, so i was wondering how to connect a normal DVD player to it? Or anyother suggestions that enable me to play DVDs.

  1. It depends on the types of connections that each has.
What is the make and model number of the dvd player and also the laptop?

The DVD Player's make is Sony and the model number is DVP-NS300
The laptop's make is a HP Pavillion TouchSmart 11-e030sa
  3. I didn't check to see what your laptop has on it yet for connections, but the DVD player can send it's signal to another device via an s-video cable or the older RCA 3-color cables. The laptop might have the S-video input connector.
  4. Here are the manuals, including the Service Manual (if you need to even open up your laptop to replace anything; Excellent to keep on-hand, downloaded on desktop or somewhere, in case HP ever deletes it). http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5399413&
  5. The easiest thing to do is to buy a cheap external DVD/Blu-Ray player. The DVD one's are pretty cheap. If you add the Blu-ray, it costs more, but here is a link on Newegg.com to browse and pick.
