Win 7 only showing 8GB out of 16GB

Well I have the problem describe in the title. Im running a win7 ultimate. I have tried many fixes such as resitting the CPU, i checked each module on each slot and they work perfectly. CPU-Z is showing all ram, but bios only recognizing 8gb. Any help will be much appreciated

im going to assume your upgrading from 8 to 16. if thats the case have you tried only putting in the new ram and not the old and seeing if it is recognised at all?

no i think he is saying that its the bios that arnt recognising it.. unless i read it wrong..

the bios is reading it because then cpuz will report the same as windows
its a minor error you can try reseating the ram in the slot

make sure the bios on the mb been updated so it has the newest ram code. you may have to with 4 dimm boost the dram voltage to 1.6 or 1.65v. some mb dont like 4 sticks of ram. see if the mb sees 3 sticks. if that the case rma the ram and get two sticks of 8g rams.

Yeah, kind of weird..Well i re installed the O.S. and then it didnt show all the mem.. i have tried re instaling with no succes.

ok im going to write this down just so i can get it straight i suppose.

the system was fine. 16gig of ram and everything was cool. bios showed it and windows showed it.

then all of a sudden bios only show 8gig but windows shows 16gig?

and now after reinstall even windows only shows 8gig?

that right?

try updating your bios should solve the problem as it might need to be updated anyway

-The system was fine(Running a bit slow for all the junk, but showing 16gb ram)
-I re installed the OS

check for thermal paste on the cpu pins or a bent pins. if there no bent pins or a cpu seating issue..the cpu ram controller may have gone bad.
