Hi all,

I just bought a new video card, it works fine if I set the resolution to 1920x1080, 1024x1080 or 1280x720 but not 1600x900! or 1280x768 or 1280x1024 or 1280 x 960.

If I enable the GPU Scaling, it will also have the same 'error' effect or change the color pixel format other than YCbCr 4:4:4 e.g. RGB 4:4:4 or YCbCR 4:2:2

This is what it shows when i setup my resolution to 1600x900, this kind of error is also appearing when I play games on certain resolution.

VGA Card is connected via HDMI and using AMD Radeon Latest Driver.

Currently 1920x1080 at 60herz works fine but if I change my refresh rate to 59 or 50 hertz, i will get the same 'error' colour screen.

1600x900 works fine with 50 hertz but not with 60 hertz... on Windows.

Why is that the case? I thought 60hertz is superior than 50 hertz, therefore if my monitor works at 60hertz it should be working fine with 50 hertz?

Superior in the sense that you'll get 10 fps less when gaming and a slightly less smooth image, but you wont notice the difference unless you switch from a 50/60hz screen very very regularly. And also if you care about fps more than you do gameplay than everything will be a okay.

So what to do in this case? for example: if my windows setting is at 1920x1080 and my game is in 1600x1200, do i need to change my the refresh rate manually in order to work? or is there any better way to change this automatically?

Not that i know of no. Question though, why would you want a full HD monitor and play games in a lower quality?

But if you manually set the refresh rate to 50hz it should stay like that unless a game overrides that setting, because i know in some games you can choose the refresh rate of your monitor. What happens if you try a different screen? Like a TV for example does the same thing occur?

I initially thought there was something wrong with the HD7770 GPU because my monitor works OK (various resolution and refresh rate) with onboard GPU

then I connected my HD 7770 GPU to my Samsung LED TV, it works fine too!!! with various resolution and refresh rate.

Now I am back to square 1 again!! any idea? I have installed the latest driver as well as Monitor Driver on my PC.

Yeah i can imagine!

So each resolution including the 'faulty' one worked on the samsung? If that worked fine then i would imagine something is wrong with the monitor then, at least there's a work around though.

Did you use the same cable with the samsung?
