CPU temp is too high?

Hi guys. I'm using MSI CLICKBIOSII to read my cpu temp and i have 47c at idle which i believe is too high? But when i use Core Temp, the temp is around 23c at idle. Which one should i trust? is this normal? I have a fx 6300 with stock cooler. Maybe i need to upgrade to a aftermarket cooler soon. ( i was to but i didn't feel like taking everything out of the mobo again)

Can you update your bios? Since it may be reading incorrectly, that is you might need to update it.
  2. What is the room temperature?
  3. It says i have the latest update.
  4. I live in Seattle, WA and i think room temp is not the issue here. But my room temp is around 26c
  5. boot into the bios and see what it says for temp.

Then your CPU can not be 23c at idle (not with the stock cooler, anyways).

BIOS temps are always higher as theres no correct idle

Also dont trust the temprature readouts anyhow
  8. You could do this manually. Take off the case cover and boot up, when you're on idle and everything has loaded into finality, hover your hand over the fan about 5 inches away. If it's warm from that distance, it might be too hot.
  9. guys, for some reason i can't get into the BIOS . I've tried to restart 3 times now but the screen just goes pass the msi logo thingy too fast ( i was spamming Del button too).

Reset the CMOS and try again.

  12. I didn't say you quoted the temps wrong, just that one of the temps is reported wrong (either room temp or CPU temp). CPU can not be cooler that room temp, unless you have certain type of active cooling on it (thermocoupling, liquid nitrogen, compressor, etc).
