today i was told that after the the end official support of Windows XP that computers would not work correctly and not be able to get on the internet
Also i was told that Mozilla Firefox would not work correctly and that is relied on Internet Explorer
this same person also claimed he downloaded ISOs of XP Pro off of Microsoft.com
i am almost certain that what he is telling is not true

Solution
I made a fresh installation of XP the other day for a customer, using the same CD I've probably used five hundred times in eight years. It's a perfectly legitimate volume licence disk and has never failed me yet. It only runs SP2 because I never bothered to slipstream SP3 but I always install SP3 immediately before anything else. Security Essentials goes in next then any necessary drivers. Once it's online I turn it loose to find the updates and recently there have been 138 of them. This last occasion I struggled to get the updates and the is much on the Net about it being a known issue brought about by Microsoft as XP runs down towards the end of support.

It was only last evening after several attempts and installatoins of...

It will continue to work. All that happens is that Microsoft ceases to create new patches and security updates.

Until a major exploit is found. Many exploits for Vista and 7 also apply to XP. So by reverse engineering a patch for Vista, an exploit may be found for XP.

And since your XP install will be unpatched....

It was only last evening after several attempts and installatoins of various >NET framework updates and others that the final bunch of updates came in. Instead of restarting at ten o'clock at night, I closed it down but in a quick check, I think I still haven't had KB892130 which means it won't be accepted under the WGA system.

If this is deliberate, I believe it to be very wrong but there is so far no firm evidence of intent. I'm going to make three new installations today to test whether or not this last one was a glitch.

A lot of hardware vendors have already stopped making XP drivers. It may be difficult to find new hardware to run on XP in addition to no new updates from microsoft. Make sure you have copies of all your current device drivers in case you need to reinstall XP sometime in the future since some vendors only keep legacy drivers around for a short period of time.
