check the network cable on the printer server try another one or use the one from the other computer .
Okay - maybe I should have laid out my network. The printer is a USB Canon, no built in networking. It is connected to my network via an IP print server with a static IP. The router has 4 LAN ports; the laptops and print server are connected to those LAN ports. It can't be the network cable - laptops connected wirelessly to the network are hitting the router, then the print server, to the printer and that works fine. Wired laptops print slow, EXCEPT for one, which prints fine wired or wifi. They're all running Windows 7, 64 bit, all updates up to date, no Windows Defender or Firewall running, all using Symantec AV.
Can't be the router port - it prints fine when a computer is connected wirelessly. And as I stated previously, one Windows 7 x64 computer prints fine wired OR wirelessly.
On a wild guess, I even bought a new router with a built in print server and used that in lieu of my standalone print server. Same problem! Nothing changed.
So now I'm guessing it's some Windows 7 issue. Anyone ever come across this?
I tried all kinds of stupid fixes, since none of the logical ones worked. Changed LAN cables, USB printer cable, router ports, printer settings, uninstalled/reinstalled print drivers. I'd simply use wi-fi, but then my internet connection drops off after a couple of hours. I shut off all sleep modes for the network devices, maxed out the DHCP lease times, (2880 hours), yet it still drops off.
I can either stay connected via LAN cable, and print S-L-O-W-L-Y, or print normally and have to reset my wi-fi card every hour or so.
Should I give up? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
