I have a packet of CPU thermal paste and it is oddly colored, it looks sort of like glue. I know its an older paste. It says GC Electronics on the side but doesn't specify whether or not it's thermal paste. Should I put it on?
It isn't too old. If it were too old it wouldn't change colors because there is no oxygen in the packet, and the change in color is due to oxidization.
Should be okay, but you can pick up some Arctic Silver 5 at Radio Shack or somewhere like it, it is better thermal paste.
I already ordered some online and it's currently being shipped with my new CPU, but I need to install things in the meantime and I found this. It's better than running it with no paste I suppose
