Hello I am using the new windows 8.1 and have just built a new computer! I have a 120 GB SSD that is right now my C drive and a 1 TB HHD that is my E drive. Is there a way I can make my HHD the C drive and my SSD the E drive? Because everytime I install something it installs on my SSD without even asking for permission.

Before I do this, I run my windows and a lot of things on my SSD would changing the letter mess all of that stuff up?

i never put myself in the position of needing to change a drive letter and never had to deal with what you are asking. common sense would say yes, but I don't know how the apps will respond.

what was the reason for asking the beginning question?....... to change the letter...

So whenever I install something even if it is downloaded onto my HDD it installs on my SSD, and the problem is I don't have a lot of space left on my SSD. Instead of changing the drive letters is there a way I can change it so it always installs on my HDD?

did you set up directories on the hd and try to exe. from there............. at the very least install to ssd and drag other files to hd.

build a folder structure and install your stuff to each folder and try and execute from there.............

what does try to exe mean? And I'm trying to drag some folders over but, some of them it says "that item is open." When I don't have anything else opened up.

put a folder ( make a folder called mygame ) on your hard drive. install a game in it. see if you can start the game from there. if you can't............... install it on the ssd.(the game) leave the exe. file on it ( the part where you start the game )......... drag the rest to "mygame" folder on your HD to help clear space on the ssd.
