1st time build with a $1000 budget and I have no idea what to get. In the past ive only bought prebuilt machines, and have decided to get a real computer, but have no idea where to start. Please help me, i currently play path of exile, ff14, and would love to stop lagging so bad :)

Well, what all do you want for your new system? Monitor, Mouse/keyboard, OS, or just the case and inside components? I'm going to guess OS and case/components.

Overclockable Intel i5 Cpu with a good motherboard to support that. Hyper 212 Evo cooler included for mild to medium overclocking too. DDR3 1866mhz Ram at CAS 9 for a good price.

Excellent price on a micro-atx case that has good cooling and cable routing options. Nice price on the Xfx fully-modular, Gold certified Psu.

Standard 1Tb HDD with optical drive. Win7 as the OS.

Msi 760 video card which has the horsepower to blow through the games you play with ZERO issues.
