Basically I have no way of using a mouse or keyboard, just put the computer together today. Also tried switching the usb connector from 3.0 to 2.0 with no results. Can anyone help me troubleshoot?

Solution

Thats good! The onboard ports are the display ports coming out of the motherboard and not the graphics card

Yes i have all driver disks and the OS is uninstalled. Related problem though, my monitor also is not displaying anything when I boot up the system. It says it is going to sleep because I have no keyboard or mouse plugged in.
Also I wouldn't think the mobo is damaged as it wasn't dropped or shorted or shocked by static.

So can you still boot and access bios from another monitor?

Both monitors I have access too gave the same thing... can't access bios because the monitors go to sleep. Hence my suspicion that there is a problem in the connection between gpu and monitor.

Try plugging the monitors into the onboard connectors

I have a keyboard with ps2 connector, but it is not working either. It might be useful to add that when I plug in the usb receiver for my mouse it blinks very briefly and then turns off.
