I just bought a new pair of Kingston Model KVR800D2K2/2GR Dual channel ram. I had one identical pair I wanted to expand upon to make 4gb total.

The two pairs will boot fine on their own, but whatever configuration I try for all four sticks I cannot get my win xp 32bit to boot. No monitor response whatsoever. I was hoping with the 4gb's I could finally make the switch to Windows 7

I have a Biostar t-force 570 sli motherboard.

On their own, I have the sticks in the 1st and 3rd slot. Neither putting the second pair in the 2nd and 4th slot, nor moving each pair to 1st and 2nd/3rd and 4th seem to work.

Thanks for your help!

Solution

I am utterly stumped... I have upped the RAM voltage from 1.9 to 2.1, the hypertransport voltage from 1.25 to 1.40, the chipset from 1.55 to 1.7. No response. Even tried a special 2.4v setting via pins but that didnt do it. Couldn't find a CPU/NB setting anywhere but I think thats the hypertransport. I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+. I've reset bios, reinstalled mobo drivers, defaulted everything, tried different clock settings/timings, but nothing. The sticks are in 5-5-5-18 timing normally.

I cannot think of what I...

Just threw the bios? I'm not too advanced a user and have never messed with any voltage settings over than an OC'ed CPU

I can edit the Memory voltage but I dont see where I can edit a MC voltage

I cannot think of what I could do next. I wonder if the dual-channel function of the board is burnt out, can that happen? I cant run two sticks in the same colored slots, I have to run one stick in orange and one in green. When I try to run in the indicated dual-channel slots (both the same color) I have an LED indicator light on the mobo telling me memory error, no boot. No response from either biostar or kingston support but I know its the weekend.
