Hey everyone, I'm just about to build my first pc as my current system bought 2 years ago is starting to seem a little creaky (it was never the best to begin with). I was thinking of going for an i5 4670k or i7 4770k on an Asus Z87-Pro MB with 8GB of 2400Mhz RAM and sticking in my current EVGA GTX670 Sig2 GPU. My current CPU is an AMD FX4100 on an MSI MB and was wondering if this will be a major improvement on my current setup. I could potentially wait but I'm starting to feel a touch impatient! The new build will be used mainly for gaming (DayZ, WOT, Elite Dangerous etc). I've no idea about the performance increases as I have no mates with powerful systems! lol... thanks in advance if you reply...

From an AMD 4100? Hell yes there will be noticeable improvement lol and stick to the i5 and save you some money from the i7 if this is mostly for gaming.

I have the 4670 and a MSI 760 HAWK and get about 45-50 fps in DayZ with everything on High at 1080p.

Also, please do not buy 2400MHz memory, it is not worth it. Stick to 1600MHz to save you some money as well.

If you get a new motherboard and CPU, you need a new copy of Windows 7/8.... Can't re-use the old copy (unless it's a full-retail package) so, there's at least $100. No argument with Intel CPUs, they are the best and fastest, but....

CPU/MB/Window7 about $650, you simply won't gain that many FPS... maybe 10%

VS adding a GPU ONLY, increase of 50% or more FPS.... over a GTX670 (which you could easily sell off)

GPU ONLY.. This will basically (assuming you have a good 650watt powersupply to run it...)
