How much vram do i need to run my desktop on 30 in. flat screen

I will be buying a custom pc that has 32 gigs of ram, fx 8350 @ 4.01 ghz, and the gtx 560 1gig vram. I was wondering if this will be enough vram to run through hdmi into the flat screen i have which is 1080 p. How much vram will i need if i will be running programs such as Skyrim, crysis 3, autodesk inventor, adobe premiere and other such programs. Thank you.

$750 isn't too bad to pay if it's working fine. I'd have to sit down and crunch some numbers, and know a bit more detail. However, if you factor in Tax and Shipping, and Windows it's likely closer to $500 you pay for the hardware.

If the screen is okay and worth at least $200 then it's $300 for the System. The CPU is about $200 which leaves $100 for everything else so it's pretty good, again if working fine.

The DDR3 memory alone is pretty expensive for 32GB.

GTX560:
This card isn't the best card now, but I did play SKYRIM nicely on my HD5870 1GB card. I did find that the official HD texture pack killed performance enough that I removed it, but with a few tweaks I could stay mostly at 60FPS. I just hate a game that gets...

The 1gig of vram on the gtx560 should be enough since you probably won't be pushing extreme graphics settings on that card anyway.
As for them programs I'm not sure.

Just a fyi, the size of the screen has no effect on the amount of vram being used, it's all about the resolution and the graphical settings.

on 1080p no game maxed out consumes more than 2gb of vram.1gb is the absolut minimum though. more vram is used for frame buffer. about the non- game programs you mention consume system ram not gpu ram. for such a machine i would pair it with a better gpu with at least 2gb. the ram and cpu is more than enough and great for multi- threading operations

It's not a matter of how much vram. Your 560 with 1gb will display on the 1080p screen, but don't expect good performance in demanding games like Crysis 3.

Its the resolution of the display that affects performance, not the size of the screen.

Consider a better graphics card. If you're wondering what you should get, it depends on your budget and PSU.

Vanilla Skyrim + official HD texture pack uses 1.5GB of VRAM if available, and slightly more with certain mods but 2GB should be plenty.

That's usage by the GAME ITSELF, not Windows desktop.

1GB is "fine" provided you properly tweak the game quality settings. Skyrim ran smoothly on my HD5870 1GB card (without the HD texture pack or mods).

It's a non-issue for programs other than games.

As mentioned, you can get a much better card. Something like the Asus GTX760 or 770 are good choices depending on your budget and games you intend to play. You'd also need to verify the POWER SUPPLY is sufficient. My favorite high-end card right now is the EVGA 780 with ACX cooler (967MHz) but it's about $520. In comparison the Asus GTX760 is about $240 with two free games so the 760 is a really awesome value.

I just hate a game that gets sluggish (VSYNC ON below 60FPS resynchs to 30FPS. VSYNC OFF gets screen tearing.)
