Is there any point to me buying an R9 270x 4Gb to run with my fx 4170?

I have an FX4170 and I wonder if there is any point in my upgrading from an HD7770 1GB to an R9 270x 2GB? Appart from the obvious gains, I am more interested in weather the cpu and 8GB memory will bottleneck the gpu to the point where it was a waste of money? Basically a compatibility issue.

R9 270x with fx 4170 and 8 gb ram is tottaly good combo nowadays. And yes, it is worth upgrading from hd 7770 to r9 270x. But you won't be needing that 4 gb version, 2 gb is more than enough. And your cpu won't be much bottlenecking the gpu, if you feel so then overclocking it will be the solution. 8 gb ram won't be bottlenecking the gpu.

Should be about twice the FPS your getting now....

NOTE: Post your power supply make and model (you should have a good 600watt or so for reliable operation with the new card...)

I'd agree, for 1920x1080 gaming, 2Gb of GPU RAM is fine..... If your gaming at 2560x1440(or 1600) then I'd go to 4Gb card.
