I recently put together a new build, but it won't power on. The PSU is fine, I hooked it up to another system and is powered right up. And, i also followed the toms hardware checklist for when your pc won't turn on, and had no success. And im also using a hardrive from a previous build, with a new OS, and im not sure if that affects is or not. What could be wrong?

Specs-
Intel core I5 4670k
Asus Z87-A Mobo
Asus Radeon R9 270
8gb DDR3 1333 MHz Ram
Thermaltake 500w PSU
1TB HDD

Yeah, the 8 and 24 pin cables are connected, as well as the one for the graphics card

Then I suggest taking the board out of the case (put it on its box). Remove the front panel wires from the motherboard and start it by shorting with a screwdriver the 2 pins on the motherboard where the power switch gets connected.
Is the CPU fan spinning when starting the board? Can you attach a case speaker to the motherboard?

Could you be a bit more specific? Or link me to a guide on how to do that? No fans are spinning, and i don't have a speaker.

Remove all cables and short the PWR and GND pins.
If still the same, I suggest testing the power supply:
