I am looking into getting the Lenovo ideapad flex 14" touchscreen laptop and it has 4gb of ram (I do realise it's not a gaming laptop, but it's not especially for that)! It has windows 8. I am wondering if I would be able to play games on this like minecraft to a high standard (render distance far or possibly medium with NO LAG what so ever)! I would think of getting 8gb of ram if I really would need it but only if I really did! If you suggest the 8gb of ram, where would you suggest buying it for a good price? I'm only asking because I heard windows 8 takes up a lot of ram! Please make sure you read the windows 8 bit please!

You only need 8 gb ram if you wan't to max out current games. But, 4 gb is enough to play them on medium.
I suggest to buy ram from newegg as it is quite cheaper. It's true that win 8 takes some what ram, but that's doesn't change it's gaming style which is equall or quite optimised than windows 7.

win8 takes less ram than vista and 7, 4 will be plenty, 8 would be marginally better. how many memory slots does that laptop have?

saying things like 'with NO LAG what so ever!' and running on a non gaming laptop, means you are going to disappointed, it's not a function of ram, it's a functions of system power, and you don't have that much power...

By the way, four gigs of ram is more than enough for Minecraft. I run it on high settings only giving the game one gig of ram. Ram is not the biggest concern as already stated it is processing power and graphics processing power that matters, and Lenovo doesn't usually impress people with that in their computers. To run minecraft without lag, expect to spend a lot of money on a laptop. If you want massive performance without breaking the bank, get a desktop. Mine costed 340 dollars and it can run skyrim on high settings.
