is the i5-4670K really worth it?

I want to buy a new PC and I have found one which I like (pre-built, but I can choose which components I want to change). it has an R9-280X from Gigabyte, 8 GBs RAM, an i5-4440 and a Gigabyte B85 motherboard. It all looked good, but I wanted to change the CPU to an i5-4670K and to make use of it, change the motherboard to a Z87 one.

But the premium that I would have to pay for the CPU and a Z87 motherboard made me think if it was really worth it.

Does an overclocked i5-4670K really have that much more performance impact than an i5-4440? I am not talking about CPU benchmarks or some scores etc.. I am talking about real performance in games. Does it make a 10 FPS difference, or a 2 FPS difference?

it will last you longer, overclock better and run better in games. As it starts to age in a few years instead of replacing it you can overclock it or put it under water and REALLY overclock it and extend the use of it by another 1-2 years so yes i would say its worth it.

i5-4440 wont get bottlenecked by even a R9-290X CPU and I dont think its worth the money to go with an expensive Z87 mobo and i5-4670k CPU. If you have the extra money with you then push the GPU even higher like an R9-290
