So I had the X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series with the front panel bit but I need a new motherboard and some (such as http://uk.msi.com/product/mb/Z77A-G45.html#/?div=Detail) don't have PCI slots for the card, So I could buy one of these adapters http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161155123686?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Or would I be able to get a new card and use my old front panel thing? (looks like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Creative-Technology-Sound-Blaster-X-Fi-Fatal1ty-/321286983282?pt=UK_Computing_ComputerComponents_SoundCards&hash=item4ace324e72).

The thing I don't understand about the adapters (never used them myself) is how they conform to the height of the I/O slot of the back of the case. It would seem to me that the outputs of the card would no longer fit within the case expansion slots.

Technically, that adapter would work, but if you're looking for a solution that allows you to still use your sound card, look for a motherboard that still has a PCI slot or accept the fact that your sound card is out of date and should be replaced (removed) from your system build.
