Computer power issues

Hey,

I'm looking for help with my system. I've had a decent rig for a few years now, and recently upgraded to a SSD. While installing the SSD, I gave the case a thorough cleaning and rearranged the cable management. I booted with the SSD intact, formatted it, ran it, it worked fine. I switched from the SSD to the old HDD (only 2 SATA cables), and it still booted and ran fine.

However, after switching back to the SSD, the case won't boot at all. The USB ports are powered (light-up accessories), so the power supply hasn't completely died, and the mobo backup light is powered. I'm not sure what could have changed, other than a static discharge while cleaning. I used a microfiber brush to clean surfaces and compressed air.

Any help would be appreciated. I've tried the sticky thread checklist, and re-made all the cabling connections. I have not tested the power supply (which could also be an issue), nor the motherboard.

I'm using a 650W supply with a rather old processor/mobo/CPU, and a very cheap graphics card, so the wattage isn't the issue. Plus, as I've said before, the system was up and running. I don't know what could have changed.

Thank you in advance!

Solution
Check if the 8 4/8 pin power plug is connected. Check also the wires from the front panel (power and reset buttons) if connected to the motherboard.

No, the CPU nor case fans spin. I don't have a case speaker at the moment, but if that would help, I can try to find one.

The board is an Asus M4A79XTD Evo. PSU is Antec 650W Neopower.
