Hi,
This is my first time overclocking, I have a i7 4770K, an Asus Sabertooth Z87 and a Corsair H100i. I managed to get my 4770k up to 4.5 GHz at 1.45 V and it was still a little unstable. So I looked up what some other people are getting and they only have to use 1.3 V to get 4.5 GHz! I have to use 1.3 to get 4.3 GHz! My temps are fine 25-30 when idle, 50-70 when gaming. Am I just one of the unlucky ones that got a crap CPU for overclocking?

No I did not. It is set to auto. Will changing it manually cause any difference?

Hi Cheeky-Chris,most probably your chip is a 4.3 Ghz chip.Check your stock vid,i.e put everything back to stock values(load defaults,or clear bios) and see what is the Vcore. If its above 1.025-to 1.035 do not expect nothing more than 4.3 to maximum 4.4GHZ(unlikely to succeed this). If your stock vid is less than 1.025 then expect 4.5 Ghz at around 1.24-1.27 volts vocre. If its less than 1.01 expect 4.6-4.8 or more at voltages below 1.3v.

You should drop down to 1.2 or 1.25.... 1.45 is chip meltingly high. Leave your system at 100mhz and just put your multiplier at 45...

I get 4.5ghz at 1.2v on Air cooling. Temps never get higher than 79C after 2 hours of prime95.

Be careful.

With a vcore of 1.45 you should be able to get 5 ghz easily maybe even 5.2 or 5.5

Hey guys, i also have a i7-4770k. My default vcore voltage is at 1.072v. I guess that means that I wont be able to overclock much? Is there something I can do to get my CPU hier that 4.3 GHz ?
