Hi guys, I'm planning to upgrade my N43SL hard drive into a ssd. This is my first time buying an SSD so I did my research and found out my laptop only supports SATA II (plus it was running on a 5400rpm) I always assumed I was on a 7200 rpm hard drive :heink:.

Anyway, should I get a more recent SSD that will be bottlenecked by my SATA II connection or just go with a more cheaper SSD?

Choices are but not limited to:
(in 120 or 128gb)
Samsung 840 EVO
Samsung 840
Kingston SSD now
Crucial M500

This is a rather good upgrade from my current HDD, I'm just looking for the best budget for it because its on a sata ii

You have a nice group of ssd's to choose from. I normally recommend Samsung. Samsung ssd's perform exceptionally well and they have a proven track record. Crucial, Intel, and Plextor are also worth considering. Lately the new SanDisk ssd's have been coming on strong.

I maintain the ssd database listed in a sticky at the very top of this forum section. Here is the link:

Scroll down to the brands and models you are interested in and follow the links to the technical reviews.

In typical real world use you will probably not notice any difference between SATA 2 and SATA 3 ssd's in your laptop.
