I'm building a budget gaming PC for a friend as was wondering which combo would be better?

An Athlon II x4 760k with a Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 Dual-X OC (2GB 1.0GHz)

or

An FX-6300 with a ASUS Radeon HD 7790 DirectCU II OC (2GB 1.07GHz)

the 760k isn't aging at all, it's based on richland
i'd go for the 760k-7870 combo, it will perform better in most games
the 6300 will still be quite a bit better on CPU intensive games, but the upcoming mantle should alleviate this

2nd option is better. It's better to buy FX6300 than the ageing X4 760K. Buy the GPU as per your budget.
