Is A gigabyte ga78lmt-s2 Mobo compatible with a Intel Core i7-3770 Quad-Core Processor

I was thinking about upgrading my CPU and didnt know if my Mobo was compatible with a Intel Core i7-3770 Quad-Core Processor or not. Could someone please tell me?

No it's not, that mobo has an AM3+ socket while the i7 requires an 1155 socket. Sorry :/

If you want to upgrade, that motherboard is compatible with the AMD FX series.. I would recommend the 6300 or the 8350

that's an LGA 1155 socket CPU not the newer LGA 1150 Socket

just make sure you buy a motherboard with one of these chipsets - Z77, Z75, H77, Q77, Q75, B75 and Make sure it's an LGA 1155 board.

Most boards will do just fine, most expensive boards are only really needed if you want to push an overclock to its limits or you want a board that looks amazing. Some of the chipsets don't support overclocking though... but the Z77 is the one to go with if you plan on overclocking and even then you need to have a K Series (i7-3770k) if you want to have a decent Overclock.
