About 4 days ago, i was using my computer and i had to go somewhere so i left it on. when i got back it was powered off (which i didn't do). When i went to power it on, everything but the fans where running. i quickly shut it off since i might overheat the cpu since the fan wasnt running. I then realized that the connector from the psu to the motherboard were loose so i repugged them correctly. So im a little paranoid that since the fan connector had come loose when i wasnt home, that my cpu had gotten damaged our the life span decreased. i know computers are supposed to shut off if a parts gets to hot, but even then i think a part can still get damaged. Is there anyway of knowing if my CPU is ok? it runs normally but maybe there are some effects ill see in the future?

Processor: AMD FX-6350 with stock cooler if that matters

motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P

Did you computer shut down? Because motherboards nowadays, have a inbuilt protection against overheating and shuts down the computer when the CPU reaches an abnormally high temperature. That is maybe the answer to why your computer had shut down. And if so, your CPU should be fine. Just check if the fans are doing their job in the future before you leave the computer on. :)

Edit: Sorry, saw that you had written that it shut down. But as i said, it was the inbuilt thermal protection mechanism that shut down your computer to prevent damage on your CPU. At first, it begins to throttle = underclock itself, then in the last case it shuts down the whole computer.
