GPU/Monitor HDMI Cable problems?

Ok so I recently built my first ever computer for gaming purposes, it was 950$ total.

My GPU : XFX Radeon HD 7770 GHz 1GB

I also have a GPU from my friend : Visiontek 900297 Radeon HD5850 Video Card - 1GB, DDR5, PCIe, Dual DVI

The HD5850 has 2 PCI-E Bricks, while mine only has 1, but it a lot smaller than the HD5850.I have an Asus VE228H 21.5" Full HD HDMI LED BackLight LCD Monitor w/Speakers ASCR 10,000,000:1 Monitor that has an HDMI, DVI, and VGA port in it. I tried setting up an HDMI cable in it since the VGA won't work since none of the GPUs have a slot for it, and the DVI cable does not work with either of the GPUs, nor does the HDMI. The monitor just keeps on saying "No HDMI/VGA/DVI Signal Detected" then looks like it goes into sleep mode. This is seriously making me upset since I've waiting a literal lifetime to save up for something this big, for it not to work on the day I put it together, which was about a week ago now. Every day is tearing me apart since something so stupid like a cord not being able to work is the only thing stopping me from playing on this beast. This computer is custom built, and I can assure you it's not a power problem, because my power supply is a Rosewill ATX 12V Power supply, which should be more than enough to power both of these GPUs on their own. I'm getting seriously upset over this because I just want to play on my damn computer. Anyone got a problem solver on this one? I can't afford to take it into a shop. If you want to get in-depth in trying to help me solve it I can send you my Skype info. Please help!

Those both should be more than enough. It doesn't have onboard video on that motherboard so that rules that out.

Things to check when you get home:
1) Is the 4/8 pin connector plugged in near the top? I know that sounds silly, but I forget to hook that one in every time once I'm done and you won't get any output (but everything will spin) if that one isn't plugged in.

2) Try reseating the GPU and try again. Make sure it is in the black slot at the top with the clip. If that doesn't work, give it a try in the red slot.

3) Try resetting the BIOS on the motherboard. Usually there is an onboard switch. The manual should dictate how it resets. I understand this is a first time build, but, give it a shot.

Lemme know if any of those work...

You're only running one of these cards at a time right? Not both? Also, the 12V doesn't tell us anything about the PSU's ability to power the video card, it's the Wattage that's important, not the voltage. Every PSU has a 12V rail and a 5V rail.

Is the GPU fan turning when you turn on the computer?
Does your motherboard have an onboard graphics card? If so, have you disabled it in the BIOS first before installing the graphics card? (You can quickly identify this by seeing if there is a VGA, DVI, or HDMI port where the back connections of your motherboard are)

I'm not at home at the moment, so therefore I cannot check the wattage. I believe it's around 500+? I could be completely wrong. I cannot directly put the cords into the motherboard for all I know. It's a Biostar TA970 I think. The fans do spin on both of the GPUs, and I only run one at a time yes.
