Hi guys,

I have recently got back into PC gaming (as opposed to consoles) and know that my computer is long overdue an upgrade! However, it has been quite a few years since I got my current PC and to be honest I have no idea about new components nowadays. So I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out with some recommendations as I can't even run newer games being released, nevermind on high settings!

I have a budget of around £400 - £500 and would like to be able to play todays games (E.g Battlefield 4) on medium - high settings with some decent fps, and would like to get the best bang for my buck!

My current PC:
Motherboard: Asus P5VD2-MX
GPU: GeForce 7950 GT
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz
RAM: 4Gb
PSU: Coolermaster 500W
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
Res: 1920x1080

I realise that it is quite outdated so I appreciate any advice you guys can give, and thanks in advance as I know there's a ton of these types of posts. I've probably forgot to mention something so if there's any questions, fire away!

you need new motherboard, ram, cpu and graphics card the rest can be reused.
Example: Core i5-3350P $180
Motherboard z77 whatever brand you like(ASRock Z77 Pro3 on newegg 90 and 10 rebate) $80
1600 mhz 2x4gb Ram like $80
gtx 660 or r9 270 ATI $200 this is in US dollars

I'd get a GTX 650 Ti. It can deliver 40 fps in BF4 on high settings at 1920x1080. Also add another 4 GB of RAM. Your PSU can handle all this, you don't need to replace it.

Replace the MB and CPU later, when you have more money.

I wouldn't recommend a more powerful graphics card because the CPU would hold it back.

Thanks for the info guys. Aevm, would the GTX 650 Ti be compatible with my motherboard?
I'm tempted to get a new MB and CPU too so as to save me the hassle of doing it for another year or 2 though!
