I had some audio problems and I reinstalled windows, turned out that wasn't the fix for it but i corrected it soon enough. however, i had about 250gb free before the reinstall, and afterwards, my C: still thought that, even though I only had windows on my 1TB HDD. I have tried defragging it, which is good anyways, but it still does not show the true amount of space. can someone help? Thanks!

Wow.. you lost a LOT of space.. a win install only takes about 30GB.. so I suspect you did not do a clean reinstall..
but did an "over the top" install.. keeping all your programs and settings..
This would not have cleaned out your HDD and would indeed have meant you saved no space (and probably used a bit more)
Surely you can just look on your HDD and see where the space is going? With such a disparity..its obvious?
Just make sure you are showing hidden files.. and even OS protected files if you want to see all files.. but with such a massive "loss" of space . its going to be obvious.

Cheers
