Hi all, happy new year to everyone!
I bought the family a new TV for Christmas, and we're all loving it! I chose a Sony partly from brand loyalty, but also due to the fact that (I read), with a small change to my wireless card, I would be able to use the Wi-Di function, which looked pretty cool. Did the first, had to reinstall Win 8 Pro x64 (my own GENUINE! build) and the new Intel drivers for WiFi, rather than the old Atheros ones from Sony.
After some faffing from a not particularly helpful Intel website, I got it set up, and the Wi-Di is great....but no Bluetooth!! Bl**dy annoying! I'm not hugely phased about it, I know I can get one of those tiny little USB adapters for about a tenner, but it's more the fact that I've bungled something that's annoying me, not syncing my phone without a lead!
The card in question that I purchased was an "Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260.HMWWB Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card". I fitted it VERY carefully and took proper anti static precautions etc, but cant seem to get the damn thing going! I cant even see it in device manager!
I'm not sure how much info you guys n girls want/need to see about the Laptop, so I'll go belt and braces and paste the whole machine spec in from Sony. I've only made a few changes from the build that I bought - I added an SSD (Intel 520 series 120GB), an extra (matched pair) 4 GB of RAM and as I mentioned did a clean install of Windows 8 Pro. The current driver version of the Intel card is: 16.6.0.8 and all WiDi software is installed. Please see machine spec below, and apologies if it seems a little over the top!!!
Thanks for taking the time to read, and any tips would be appreciated!
