Could this run latest games at 50 fps and good resolution?

Hello, I am new to this forum, this is my first question.

I am planning on selling my Xbox 360 to get an Amd Hd7770 Ghz Edition 2gb GDDR5 and a good power supply in combination with what I already have on my PC which is:

Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00 GHz
4 GB RAM DDR3 1333
Mobo Asrock G41M-VS3
nVidia GeForce 8400 GS 1 GB DDR3 (Not very good but overclocked does help a bit, plays newer games at 800 x 600, 40 or 50 fps at high settings, not so terrible)
Power supply: 450 watts

My question is that if I buy a new power supply and the Amd HD 7770 will I be able to play newer games or current gen games at over 40 fps and at 14440 x 900 resolution? (That is my monitor max resolution).

I already have a fan for my GeForce 8400 GS, so I could overclock the HD 7770 which has 2 fans in it and with the extra fan in the mobo, temps are not a problem.

If I sell my Xbox, I could also get a cheap Core 2 Quad aswell, but I really could use the rest of the money for some games =D or even a new HDD or a keyboard.

Can anyone help me? How my PC with that HD 7770 would compare to Xbox One and PS4? Is it worth it or should I keep my rig and wait for some more money to get a Core i3 or I5 mobo?

Thanks everyone.

At those resolutions high settings shouldn't be a problem at all

And by lower I meant medium and below, the 7770 is capable of running Far Cry 3 fairly well on high settings for instance, but as more games are taking advantage of more cores, your mileage may vary compared to those with more powerful CPUs in certain games

Not really ideal but surely functional
With a 7770 you should have little problem playing current and upcoming games at lower settings over 40FPS at 1440x900

You could aim at getting a Core 2 Quad, if you could find it at a good price, generally we don't recommend upgrading an old rig but if you can get a great deal then go for it

Your PC with the 7770 won't be keeping pace with the next gen consoles for long, you'll get lesser image quality out of your system since it has less raw power than the consoles and it doesn't have the benefit of the "coding to the metal" which consoles enjoy since the hardware configuration in consoles is the same throughout whereas there are millions of different PC configurations

Best bet would be to save up towards a new build altogether, you'd want something more powerful for upcoming titles

Granted, you could go for your upgrade if you can find cheap parts, then overhaul and get a new system after a year or two into the new console generation

What about 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 720? Maybe I could get all settings to high I guess and get around 40 fps?
